Cultural radio's roads to the future
30 October 2013

At the kind invitation of Prix Europa, cultural station managers of public radio broadcasters met at Radio Berlin Brandenburg on Friday, 25 October 2013 for their annual plenary meeting, known as the “Berlin Summit”.
Entitled “Roads to the Future”, this session welcomed the President of the German Culture Council, Christian Höppner, and the Flemish writer Pieter De Buysser, who each offered an outsider’s view on the importance of the cultural role played by public service radio broadcasters.
Activities and projects carried out in 2013 were presented by Austrian, Flemish, British and Romanian public radio broadcasters, while Ruurd Bierman from Dutch Radio-Television updated participants on the work of the EBU Vision 2020 Group, which he chairs.
The meeting concluded with a transatlantic discussion via Skype with NPR in Washington and WFMT in Chicago, moderated by Cilla Benkö (Swedish Radio).
A new Euroradio Culture Group was elected for the term 2014-2015.
