“My smartphone doesn’t receive TV signals - why?” – This was the theme of a 2-hours panel discussion of the Working group “Media Politics” at the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Munich on 8 October 2013. Political, technical and economical questions were widely discussed. Christian Vogg, EBU Head of Radio, joined the debate with the Euro-Chip Initiative. The conclusion, in short: hybrid is the choice of the future, using both broadcast and broadband, which means to encourage the different players in the market to act in this direction. In the end politicians have to decide and to ensure that high quality content reaches everyone at affordable costs.
