New Radio Group heads for extension of its network
20 October 2013

After an intensive discussion the New Radio Group (NRG) decided to build up a so-called business network. The idea is that every member of the group contacts at least two colleagues in member companies which are not represented in the elected group and networks with them in order to get a broader view on current developments in Radio. Also a quicker and more in-depth research on future radio issues could be possible via this network.
The NRG met on the occasion of the New Radio Day in Prague, organized by this group, and held their bi-annual elections afterwards. Chairman Mats Akerlund, Head of Digital Strategy at Swedish Radio, was re-elected. Also vice-chair Jean-Paul Coakley, Director of Operations at Radio RTE, Ireland, was reconfirmed in his position as well as the seven members of the group: Laurent Finet (BE RTBF), Jorn Jensen (NO NRK), Erik Henz Kjeldsen (DK DR), Michael Reichert (DE SWR), Joel Ronez (FR SRF), Filip Rozanek (CZ CR) and Brett Spencer (GB BBC). The only change was Gianluca Sigillo (RAI) replacing Luigi Aliberti (RAI) as a vice-chairman.
Furthermore the group decided to apply for an extension of one seat at the relevant EBU bodies in order to include Ignacio Gomez from RTVE, Spain, as an elected group member.
The NRG is an expert group within Euroradio members which deals with future strategies of radio including digital radio.
