Toronto – The North American Broadcasters’ Association (NABA), an important sister union of the EBU, has appointed Robert J. Ross as its new President.

A senior vice-president of the CBS Television Network, Mr Ross has worked for 37 years in all areas of broadcast engineering. He succeeds Robert Briskman of Sirius XM Radio, who had served as NABA President since 2012.

EBU President Jean-Paul Phillipot and Director General Ingrid Deltenre wished Mr Ross all success at the head of NABA’s renewed Board of Directors. In a letter of congratulations, they also expressed appreciation of a “very fruitful relationship” with NABA in addressing the challenges posed by the digital age to broadcasters around the world.

The NABA secretariat, under Michael McEwen as NABA Director General, coordinates the work of the World Broadcasting Unions and their committees.

The WBU brings together the EBU, NABA and their six sister unions: the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the African Union of Broadcasting, the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, the International Association of Broadcasting, and the Organizacion de Telecomunicaciones Iberoamericanas.
