Sign of the times: ERT hoarding comes down

Workmen in Athens have taken down signage from the premises of former Greek public broadcaster ERT.

Earlier this month George Prokopakis, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NERIT, told the EBU’s Legal & Public Affairs Assembly that NERIT would be up and running within weeks. Action to update the appearance of the premises formerly used by ERT appears to support this claim.

Greek media reported on Tuesday (16/4) that the Greek Deputy Minister for Public Broadcasting, Pantelis Kapsis, had resigned as agreed in the lead-up to the launch of the new broadcaster.

In a press release, Mr Kapsis said that ’NERIT had entered the final stage of its establishment,' and that ‘the recruitment process was almost complete, while following objective, transparent and meritocratic procedures.’

‘Within May, a second channel is expected to be launched, which will have a strong regional character with a news program that will be produced by the Northern Greece Department,’ he said.
