DR hosts meeting of the EBU Copyright Group

On 8 May 2014, DR hosted the annual EBU Copyright Group meeting at its headquarters in Copenhagen.

Topics that were discussed included the relationship between copyright and "must carry" rules under media law, the future implementation of the Collective Rights Management Directive, and new case law from the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice, such as the Svensson case on "hyperlinking".

A panel with guest speakers (Prof. Bernt Hugenholtz of the University of Amsterdam, Mr Martin Gormsen from the Danish collecting society Copydan and Mr Jerker Rydèn from the Swedish National Library) stimulated a lively debate on the ongoing copyright reform in the EU.

DR also provided for a special presentation on the actual use of the "extended collective licensing" regime in Denmark which has enabled DR's archives to be made available online.
