News Xchange partners with World Press Photo exhibition
28 October 2014
This year’s News Xchange, Eurovision’s leading news industry conference in Prague, will see the 13th annual event team up with World Press Photo – the foundation committed to supporting and advancing excellence in documentary and photo journalism worldwide.
Photographs from the initiative Reporting Change will be featured during breaks between all #NX14 sessions (12 to 14 November).
The joint initiative involving Human Rights Watch and World Press Photo – an independent non-profit organization based in Amsterdam – was launched in February 2012 with a grant from the Dutch Postcode Lottery. In the intervening years, World Press Photo Academy ran a series of workshops in which around 65 visual journalists from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia worked with internationally experienced trainers to help them better share their stories with the world.
The News Xchange conference brings together 500 executives, journalists, presenters, bloggers and start-up entrepreneurs from all around the world to share, learn and cross-pollinate ideas with experts, scientists, artists and international thought leaders.
This year’s event will explore key themes including culture and change management, audiences – with a particular focus on how to engage young people, partnerships between traditional and new media, user-generated content, and covering wars.
For those unable to attend the main events in Prague, News Xchange 2014 can be followed on Twitter via #NX14 or through Facebook. Recordings of all main News Xchange sessions will be available to download for free from Eurovision’s WorldLink service.
