American ‘personalised radio’ app to be showcased at New Radio Day
24 September 2015
NPR One, the new app from EBU Associate Member NPR (Washington D.C.) that suggests content to the listener based on their personal interests will be presented at Euroradio’s New Radio Day in Riga on 29 September.
NPR is a pioneer in ‘personalised radio’ – the theme of this year’s New Radio Day. The aim of the app is to give NPR listeners the option not only to choose their favourite content but also to let the app learn and remember personal preferences. This works with a sophisticated algorithm monitoring what the listener skips or continues to listen.
NPR’s Senior Product Manager for Mobile, Tejas Mistry, will be in Riga demonstrating how the app works and discussing the feedback they’ve received from listeners since its roll out 10 months ago.
Attendees will also learn about a new hybrid application being developed by IRT in Munich, combining live radio broadcast with added content via the internet. There will be speakers from PSM and from commercial radios alike showcasing their latest developments in personalized radio and debating the impact of this new trend to the industry.
Places are still available for EBU Members to attend New Radio Day. The full agenda is available here.
