MIS report on PSM Contribution to Society now available
08 December 2015
The EBU Media Intelligence Service (MIS) has published a framework for assessing public service media’s contribution to society. This report is part of a major ongoing project led by the MIS team.
The new report includes tools, guidelines and best practices to help Members measure their impact on society and identify the benefits they deliver to their citizens, and goes beyond the traditional reporting approaches already applied. Special attention has been paid to mapping areas where PSM can deliver significant value, including the economy, technology, culture and democracy.
In addition, the report provides practical recommendations for improving public communication strategies, and building convincing and meaningful narratives about the value of PSM and their contribution to society.
Head of the Media Intelligence Service, Dr Roberto Suarez Candel, said: “We are convinced that this is a crucial step in maintaining the legitimacy of PSM and reinforcing their social, political and market support. In other words, ensuring PSM remains relevant, with a secure future.”
The initiative will continue into 2016, with several areas of activity including awareness activities, Member support, knowledge sharing and further research.
