Solidarity in Action in Ukraine

EBU Members RAI and NRK have shared their experiences of regional public service media with Council members of the new joint stock company - Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC). The seminar was organized by the Council of Europe office in Ukraine in cooperation with the EBU Partnership Programme. It aimed to familiarize Council members with EBU best practice, challenges and the operation of regional public service stations.

Nicola Caligiore, International Relations Manager at RAI, and Ulf Morten Davidsen, Head of Administration of NRK, shared their experience in organization, structure, financing and the appointment of staff.

Nicola Caligiore said: "I believe that regional programming and news offering is a very important part of the Public Service Media remit and I was thrilled to be invited by the Council of Europe and EBU to present the Italian experience. It was a very interesting  and informative day and I hope I managed to provide a little contribution to this reform process that could ultimately benefit the Ukranian society”

The seminar was organized after the new legal entity, UA:PBC, was registered last month. The new entity brings together 31 entities and regional centres and wants to exchange experience with Members who have already successfully integrated regional centres' operations.
