Andrej Grah Whatmough has been appointed as Director General of RTV Slovenia.
Andrej is the former President of the Supervisory Board of RTV Slovenia and was appointed by the Program Council following the expiry of the mandate of former DG Igor Kadunc.
He was born in the United Kingdom and moved to Slovenia at the age of nine when his family returned home. He graduated with a degree in law from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and has worked previously in the fields of law and finance. He joined the Supervisory Board of RTV Slovenia in 2015 and was appointed Chair two years later.
He said: “I am taking over the management of the largest media institution in Slovenia in very difficult times, not only due to the aggravated epidemic situation, but also due to the serious financial situation of the public service. In today's demanding media landscape, RTV Slovenia must constantly prove itself and adapt to the needs and requirements of the public, follow technological progress and new ways of monitoring content, attract new listeners, viewers and readers and adapt the way of presenting all content to new conditions.
"My first and key task will be to create conditions for the long-term financial stability which will allow RTV Slovenia to fulfil its mission in our society. "
