On 7 February 2023, over 100 delegates attended an exclusive EBU / ARD Brussels premier of the VRT-NPO series ARCADIA. The series is a coproduction from 4 public service broadcasters in 3 countries and will be broadcast in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. 

The screening welcomed EU, Belgian and Dutch decision makers to show the high-quality production and storytelling that happens when European media joins forces. 

Frederik Delaplace CEO, VRT, said: "Fiction remains very important in our programme offerings. Audience expectations around the quality of fictional series have risen sharply in recent years. To continue making fiction with international appeal, we need to collaborate across borders, with other public broadcasters, for example. This is how we succeed. Moreover, we can support our local creative businesses and talent."

Wouter Gekiere, Head of the Brussels Office, EBU said: “ARCADIA is a triumph of collaboration. It is European media competing on the global stage, with stories that matter to the viewers. The EBU is proud to showcase this series. Stable and sufficient investment in public service media must be a priority so that they can create more series like this one that speak to European audiences.”

ARCADIA will be available to watch in Belgium on VRT from 19 March 2023

ARCADIA is a coproduction from VRT and KRO-NCRV with support from WDR, SWR (ARD), and production by jonnydepony and Big Blue.
