Documentary Experts Meeting and Pitching Session(s)

The 2023 Winter sequel of the EBU Documentary Experts meeting/pitching session will take place in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 11 and 12 November 2023, during the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA).

A meeting agenda, incl. exact timings, will be circulated on 18 October but we are now aiming at a kickoff early afternoon on Saturday 11 November (after lunch at 13:00).

We will be meeting in a new venue called The Playing Circle - Atelier de Vijzel.

Registrations to the meeting will open on 18 October.

Upcoming calls for submissions

As previously announced, as of this year's Winter session, we are issuing two different calls for submissions:

• The Call for EDDS projects ("BIG 5"), open as of Monday 4 September.
• The Call for REGULAR projects, open as of Monday 18 September. 

For both calls, the deadline for submission is Wednesday 4 October. The selection of projects will be made public on Wednesday 18 October.

Call for submissions for EDDS projects (Big 5)  

1. Fill in the EDDS SUBMISSION FORM 
2. Add a TREATMENT - 4 pages maximum (longer ones might not be considered),
3. Send both, the submission form and the treatment, as WORD documents to: b.truyen@vpro.nl and simha@ebu.ch
4. DEADLINE: Wednesday 4 October at the latest.

EDDS guidelines and project criteria are available on the submission form, but please already note that:

1. a broadcaster can only submit one project for the EDDS; 
2. a single project can only be submitted in one of the two categories (e.g.: EDDS vs regular), and not in both anymore.

2. Add a TREATMENT - 4 pages maximum (longer ones might not be considered),
3. Send BOTH, the submission form and the treatment, as WORD documents to: b.truyen@vpro.nl and simha@ebu.ch
4. DEADLINE: Wednesday 4 October at the latest.

Pitching Rules:

• Each project to be pitched has to be commissioned by an EBU Member,
• We are looking for projects with high international potential (see criteria’s in the submission form),
• The projects to be pitched will be selected by the Documentary Group Bureau among all received entries.
