TV Music Experts Plenary 2024

On Wednesday 25 September, the EBU TV Music Experts Group convened once again in Prague, at the kind invitation of Golden Prague and Czech Television.

The group plenary meeting took place in the stunning Municipal house and welcomed participation from 29 delegates representing 19 member organizations.

A key outcome of the discussions was expanding the group’s focus beyond classical music to include a broader range of genres and TV programming such as documentaries. Reflecting this expanded mission, the group has been renamed the “EBU TV Music and Performing Arts Experts Group”. This change, supported unanimously by Members, aims to enrich the group’s scope and potentially increase its membership to 15.

The meeting also reviewed the success of the recent Eurovision Young Musicians competition and explored the future paths for the event. Additionally, the group discussed the use of AI in music production and hosted a pitching session for promising projects, inviting Members to express their interest.

The following day, the EBU, in collaboration with IMZ, held a workshop on “Women in Music and Representation on Screen”.

The panel included diverse voices from the artistic, business, and broadcasting sectors, highlighting ongoing initiatives and challenges in achieving representation equity.
