Awards: EBU department deputy head recognised as technology leader

The Deputy Director of the EBU Technology and Development Department, David Wood, has been named one of the 50 most influential technology leaders in Europe for 2011.
The award, by the publication 'Digital TV Europe,' was in recognition of Mr Wood's innovation in the field of 3DTV and Ultra High Definition television.
Mr Wood described his team's work as 'the most important development in technology in 30 years.' "To put it in context, I would liken it to the introduction of colour television, " he said.
Awards were presented to seven candidates, singled out by readers as the most influential people in TV, Pay TV and broadband.
Lieven Vermaele, Director, EBU Technology and Development, said the award reflected one of the EBU's key areas of development. "We have a very strong technical team at the EBU. It's gratifying to have our work recognized by the readers and staff of Digital TV Europe."
