EBU Special Assistance Scholarship


The EBU Special Assistance Project was established in June 2009 to reinforce support for Members of the Union encountering deep difficulties – political, financial, technical or other – at a time of rapid technological change.

Within this framework, the new EBU Special Assistance Scholarship will support high-potential professionals facing challenges in management, content and technology. This scheme is funded by the Network Media Programme of the Open Society Foundation, with EBU Members providing in-kind contributions.

Who may apply?
The Scholarship is open to any full-time employee of an EBU Member eligible for the Special Assistance Project.

What may I apply for?
Two kinds of scholarship are available:
Track A: facilitates participation in EBU TRAINING courses
Track B: funds individual projects for on-the-job training and mentoring, by twinning staff from assisted Members with counterparts from assisting Members.

What is the deadline for applications?
Track A: Scholarships are awarded throughout the year. The application form must be sent one month before the course takes place.
Track B: Applications for the first round of scholarship awards must be received by 30 November 2011.

How does the selection process work?
Track A & Track B: The scholarships will be awarded by a jury based on specific criteria including professional experience, motivation, and ability to harness and spread the knowledge or experience acquired.

What does each scholarship cover?
Track A: Transport and accommodation and registration fee.
Track B: Transport and accommodation.
