First 10 countries qualify for 56th Eurovision Song Contest Final: First Semi-Final result

Düsseldorf, Tuesday 10 May 2011 – The first batch of 10 countries qualified for the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest tonight. The first Semi-Final was broadcast live over the Eurovision network in the 19 countries taking part this evening, plus Spain and the United Kingdom.

The following 10 countries will compete in Saturday’s Final (in order of announcement):

- Serbia
- Lithuania
- Greece
- Azerbaijan
- Georgia
- Switzerland
- Hungary
- Finland
- Russia
- Iceland

All the qualifiers were determined in a mixed vote by televoters and juries (comprising 5 music industry professionals) in all of tonight’s 19 participating countries, as well as viewers and juries in Spain and the United Kingdom.

A second Semi-Final, to select a further 10 countries, will be held on Thursday 12 May 2011 (21:00 CET).

Under the rules, five countries automatically qualify for Saturday's Final: Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and France, plus the host country Germany, making a total of 25 countries in the Final on Saturday 14 May 2011 (21:00 CET).
