Member news: EBU Member RTCG elects new DG
31 October 2011
Montenegrin EBU Member RTCG has elected Rade Vojvodic to be its new director general from December 1, as the broadcaster sets in motion a restructuring strategy jointly drafted with the EBU's Special Assistance Project.
Mr Vojvodic, 50, a law graduate, started his RTCG career as head of marketing, before becoming editor in chief of RTCG's third channel. In 2002 he left RTCG to set up a private television station in Podgorica, where he was the director general and editor in chief.
RTCG's leadership recently benefited from a three-day management seminar in Podgorica for more than 50 top and middle managers at the organization.
Financed by the Slovenian government in the framework of the EBU's Special Assistance Project, the seminar was also attended by a number of members of RTCG's executive board.
In a meeting with EBU Vice-President Claudio Cappon in May, Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic said his government would consider further assistance to RTCG subject to plans to cut staffing and provide more high-quality programmes.
