EBU to carry live feed of Nobel Prize

Geneva, 5 December 2011 – The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Nobel Media have struck an agreement whereby the EBU will distribute live coverage of the Nobel Prize events until 2013.

[NobelMedia] This year's Nobel Events, on 10 December, are expected to be watched by millions of viewers when the signal is carried on the EBU's Eurovision Network.

Norwegian and Swedish public broadcasters and EBU Members, NRK and SVT, are the  production partners for these events, which will be broadcast from Oslo and Stockholm. 

Under the three-year contract, the EBU will also provide a live stream of the events, which include the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony, the Nobel Prize Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet, directly to the Nobel Prize website, www.nobelprize.org

Eurovision will ensure live global coverage for the following Nobel Media events: 

• Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo
The Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee presents the Nobel Peace Prize in the presence of the King of Norway on 10 December each year, the anniversary of Nobel's death. For the first time in the Prize's history, three female Laureates have been awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

• The Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm
The 2011 Nobel Laureates in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and in Economic Sciences will receive their Nobel Prize medal and diploma from His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

• A summary from the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm. 
The banquet programme follows tradition, beginning with the processional entry of the Royal Family and other guests of honour at 19.00 and includes speeches from Nobel Laureates
