Eurovision invites entries for Rose d'Or Awards

Eurovision today calls for entries for the Rose d’Or Awards, which celebrate outstanding international entertainment TV.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has supported the Rose d’Or for more than 40 years, but acquired the full rights in 2012. Eurovision is now the organizer of one of international entertainment television’s oldest and most prestigious galas.

To simplify the entry procedure, Eurovision has merged the submission and uploading processes on the Eurovision Showcase platform, which offers HD video uploading, private “screening rooms” and company contacts and profiles.

In addition, Eurovision has introduced a cost-effective flat fee system, so that contestants will pay the same amount for submitting one or multiple entries.

EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre says: “Entertainment is a fundamental keystone of broadcasters’ schedules, and we look forward to receiving some outstanding entries. We want to highlight excellence in television entertainment and reward innovation and creativity in this field.”

The Rose d’Or Award categories are:

  • Game Show
  • Reality and Factual Entertainment
  • Sitcom
  • Comedy
  • Entertainment
  • Arts

The deadline for entries is January 31, 2013. Nominees will be announced in April 2013.

The Rose d’Or Awards Ceremony will be in Brussels on 30 May 2013, during the Eurovision Media Summit.

Companies entering the competition and Eurovision Media Summit participants can watch free screenings of all entries ahead of the event, at the Eurovision Showcase “Rose d’Or kiosk”.
