EBU Member and broadcaster DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) has appointed Pernille Gaardbo Executive Producer for the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark in 2014.

Hosting rights were awarded to DR after 20-year-old Dane Emmelie de Forest scored 281 points for "Only Teardrops" at the final of the 58th ESC in Malmö, Sweden on 18 May. She was closely followed by Azerbaijan with 234 points and Ukraine with 214 points.

Ms. Gaardbo has for the last 12 years been at the helm of Medieservice, DR's production department, with overarching responsibility for the technical production of entertainment shows, including the Danish national selection, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and X-Factor.

Ms. Gaardbo says her new role represents the realization of a dream, "DR has never been more ready to take on such a challenge. We have systematically worked on optimizing our production processes during the past few years so we are fully geared up to take on an event of this proportion."

Other members of the team responsible for planning and producing the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is Head of Entertainment Jan Lagermand Lundme and the Head of DR Events, Søren Therkelsen.

Both have extensive experience at DR producing entertainment shows, including Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Jan Lagermand Lundme will be responsible for content whilst Søren Therkelsen will be responsible for partnership relations.

The dates for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest have been provisionally set for 13, 15 and 17 May 2014. The search to find a suitable host city and venue is underway.
