Euroradio Contact Engineers discussed latest technologies

The 19th Assembly of the Euroradio Contact Engineers took place on the 6th and 7th of June in Leuven at the kind invitation of VRT. More than 30 engineers from member all over EBU discussed topics like the M2M exchange, the Euroradio Live network, Visual radio, Loudness, Audio over IP, and digital radio.

The M2M system is the new file system in radio to exchange concerts over the internet. Approximately 4000 concerts are offered every year and every concert is ordered 7 times in average. The system is running smoothly since one year. Latest developments are additional features like a direct member to member exchange and the possibility to exchange multimedia content for Visual Radio (pictures and video clips).

The live network operates since 2008. In Leuven the participants discussed the possible integration with the FUNA/FNRMN project of Eurovision. Due to the high complexity and high costs the Euroradio contact engineers and Eurovision contact engineers (ACE Bureau) recommended to maintain the Euroradio satellite network as it is.

The contact engineers got some live demo’s on the M2M, video setups from HRT and VRT, Vibrinet, KA band, and Vidigo. There was also the possibility to visit the regional radio station and the museum depot.

On the second day the keynote speakers concentrated on the following topics : Loudness , Opus, Session Border Control, Digital Radio, and the new video platform especially for the exchange of live video streams: Euroradio 2 see
