Vision2020 to brief EBU Executives

The VISION2020 project team will mark a further milestone in its investigation into the future challenges facing public service media (PSM) when it updates the EBU's key governing body this weekend on its progress.

Project leader Ruurd Bierman and the chairs of the Experts Groups on Content & Audience, Distribution, Technologies & Audience and Governance, Funding, Role & Remit will brief Members of the EBU Executive Board led by President Jean-Paul Philippot at a meeting in Cyprus (11-13 October) hosted by EBU Member CyBC.

"This special workshop is an opportunity for reflection and represents an important stage of the process launched by the EBU a year ago on October first," said Mr Bierman. "Some points are yet to be refined, but in general, there is consensus among our specialist groups and we are eager to receive feedback from the Board."

Mr Bierman says the project team is on track to finalise the draft conclusions for November when the EBU Executive Board meets again.

The draft executive summary, ten key recommendations, an analysis of the main trends and challenges facing PSM, will be available electronically for discussion at the EBU General Assembly, 5-6 December 2013.

The final version of the report will be presented early 2014 in the form of an interactive report and an app. The EBU's strategy and services will be reviewed according to the project's conclusions, which will be presented to the 2014 Summer Assembly.
