Rose d'Or 2014: Submissions expand to Online Video and Radio Communities

The Rose d’Or – entertainment’s biggest international awards ceremony – opens today to entries from the broadest ever range of media platforms, including online video, radio and television.

The announcement is one of several format changes to the event, which last year attracted a record 320 entries following its successful relaunch by Eurovision, operated by the European Broadcasting Union.

The timing of the event has also shifted. The awards ceremony, which is open to both public service and commercial media, will happen in Berlin on 17 September, to coincide with the EBU Member convention, the Eurovision Creative Forum.

Eurovision director Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser said the additional category was introduced to reflect the shift towards providing consumers with access to content on multiple platforms.

“We talk about liquid content that flows across a variety of platforms. It’s time to recognize the best of programming, whatever the platform,” Ms Nyberg Frankenhaeuser said. “Everything from classic radio shows to new players, like Netflix and Amazon, will be welcome to compete for a Rose d’Or.  Inclusion and recognition of excellence is central to our values.”

The seven categories showcasing originality, quality and creativity in television and online video broadcasts will include:

  • Game Show
  • Reality and Factual Entertainment
  • Sitcom
  • Comedy
  • Entertainment
  • Arts
  • Radio

The deadline for submissions for the 53rd Rose d’Or is March 28, 2014. Find details at the Rose d’Or website .

Nominees will be announced on 19 May 2014.
