Polish clarinetist wins Euroradio New Talent competition

Andrzej Ciepliński has been announced as the winner of New Talent, the annual Euroradio competition aimed at young musicians. The 22 year-old from from Katowice, Poland gave a thrilling performance of Aaron Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet and Strings.

The runners-up at the competition held on October 5 were Jan Gricar (saxophone) from Slovenia and David Huang (piano) from Sweden.

A gala concert featuring the three finalists as soloists, accompanied by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra under Boian Videnoff, was held in Bratislava and broadcast live as part of the 2015–2016 Euroradio Seasons. To view the whole event click here.

The contestants’ performances were evaluated by an international jury made up of Adrian Rajter – Chairman (RTVS), Heikki Valsta (YLE), Igor Tausinger (CR), Dorothea Enderle (SWRB), Marco Mauceri (RAI), Alina Velea (ROR) and Evert van Berkel (SR).

Promoting the best of the new generation of musicians throughout Europe and beyond remains a key component of public service media's remit.

New Talent, which has been jointly organized by EBU Member Radio and Television Slovakia along with the Bratislava Music Festival since 2013, represents one of the major Euroradio initiatives to recognize and support deserving young artists.
