Euroradio hosts workshop on reaching young audiences
09 June 2016
A one-day workshop in Geneva on 10 June will bring together managers from EBU Members’ youth networks to discuss the common challenges in reaching young audiences.
Top professionals from the BBC (United Kingdom), RBB (Germany), Prisa Radio (Spain). RTE (Ireland), Radio France, VRT (Belgium), RTBF (Belgium), Jil FM (Algeria), Czech Radio (Czech Republic), YLE (Finland), DR (Denmark), ORF (Austria) will exchange ideas on strategy and programming.
“Many of our Members are ‘in the thick of it’ creating, innovating, struggling and experimenting to reach and serve young audiences,” said Laurent Marceau, Manager of Euroradio Eurosonic.
“Radio and pop culture have had a very healthy and strong relationship over the years. Catering for young people remains a priority for all media, especially Radio but the competition is fierce,” he continued.
“We hear doom-laden research about social networks, streaming services, Youtube taking over, but at the same time radio programmes can offer something distinctive and special that is not available elsewhere. It’s a challenge, but there are also some inspiring case studies, and experiences that we look forward to hearing about in Geneva on 10 June.”
