EBU partner with VR & AR World to showcase new developments
13 September 2016
The EBU is partnering with VR & AR World to showcase exciting developments in the field of virtual and augmented reality.
The EBU will be highlighting the work of Members through demonstrations, presentations and panel discussions at the event in London next month.
VR & AR World is the largest event of its type in Europe and takes place from the 19th-20th October. Delegates have the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the latest in 360 degree, VR and AR production.
The EBU will be hosting a session on the 20th to showcase case studies from Members including the BBC, France Télévisions, RTVE, RTE, DW and ZDF. The session, produced by EBU Media, will combine Members’ case studies with a panel discussion around topics such as what content is worth exploring for VR and how public broadcasters can understand and meet audience needs and expectations regarding immersive experiences.
EBU Head of Network Solutions Oscar Teran will chair a technical panel dedicated to “Serving the viewer: ensuring optimal quality of the experience”. A Eurovision stand showcasing Eurovision Flex will also be part of the exhibition at the event.
The EBU’s Senior Media Development Manager Madiana Asseraf will chair the workshop at the event. She said: “The EBU is supporting Members in their experiments with 360, VR and AR, not only in providing a centre for learning and sharing in the field, but also by raising awareness of the potential of VR to create engaging and optimised immersive experiences for the audience.”
EBU Director of Media Jean Philip De Tender added: “We are committed to collaborating with the key players in the industry in order to showcase their work and to support them in their efforts to innovate in order to connect with all audiences.”
As part of the partnership with VR & AR World, EBU Members will benefit from 20% off the registration price of the conference, on top of the already discounted early bird prices that will last until 16 September. To obtain the discount code, Members can email Madiana Asseraf.
