One of the outstanding elements in the Euroradio Season is the top-class Jazz Concerts broadcast on the last Friday evening of each month from September to May, available via MUS. This year is no exception, with France Musique offering EBU Members the opening concert on 30 September (EURO/2016-2017/J/001), a star-studded gala from the La Villette Jazz Festival, marking the 30th anniversary of the Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ).

The two-part programme kicks off with the ONJ and its current Artistic Director, Olivier Benoît, presenting his second orchestral suite, Europa Berlin. The second half is a fantastic retrospective on the past three decades of the jazz ensemble, as Olivier Benoît and each of his nine predecessors take a turn at the helm to conduct one of their own compositions. Among them are such prestigious jazz names as Claude Barthélémy, Didier Levallet and Franck Tortiller.

The evening's complete programme can be found here.

Interviews of the artists and video excerpts can be found by going here and clicking on "Les 30 ans de l'ONJ au Festival de jazz à La Villette".
