Blago Markota appointed Acting General Manager of HRT

The Croatian Parliament has appointed Blago Markota as the new Acting General Manager of Croatian Radio Television (HRT) with a majority of 115 votes in favour with four against and four abstentions.

Markota has worked at HRT since 1999, most recently as Head of Archive and Programme Content where he worked closely with the EBU to help manage the digitization of the audiovisual archive for public service media in South-East Europe.

He started working at HRT as a financial analyst but has held numerous positions at the broadcaster including Marketing Director, Board Member for Croatian Television and Advisor to the General Manager.

Since 2014, Markota has been a member of the Executive Council of the International Federation of Television Archives and he is working with the Ministry of Culture in Croatia to establish new national archive regulations. He also lectures in media at the University North in Croatia.

Markota said: "I have worked for HRT for a long time and know the organisation well. My vision is for a strong and professional HRT which is indispensible to Croatian society."
