EBU Radio Members share seasonal folk music around the world

Noël, Weihnachten, Karácsonyt and Коледа are just some of the words for Christmas used by listeners in countries throughout Europe taking part in the Euroradio Folk Music Christmas/New Year Project.

28 EBU Radio Members have contributed to the project, offering listeners a musical smörgåsbord ranging from a Finnish reindeer driver's song in Sámi language or an old Irish lullaby sung by Eurovision Song Contest winner Eimear Quinn, to a Cypriot schoolchildren's choir or the Slovak Radio Folk Orchestra featuring instruments like the shepherd's pipe and cimbalom. All this and much more can be found in a compilation of holiday music now available in MUS to Members and Associates.

Taking the audience on a musical journey throughout Europe, the annual EBU Folk Music Christmas/New Year Project has proved very popular for its richness and diversity of sounds and rhythms.

This Christmas, the project will again provide a varied repertory encompassing authentic folk, ethno, jazz, pop, traditional and classical music. 37 high-quality pieces offered by EBU Radio Members from 27 countries are presented in this two-hour compilation, which can be found here.
