EBU and FIS continue their partnership for ‘World Snow Day 2019’

The EBU will once again partner with the International Ski Federation (FIS) on World Snow Day 2019 to showcase the benefits of bringing the next generation to snow sports.

FIS World Snow Day helps all stakeholders in the snow industry to contribute to a special day of activities for 4 to 14 year-olds. The eighth edition of this annual event will take place on Sunday 20 January and will include over 469 events and actions in 45 countries around the world.

World Snow Day is a central part of FIS’s international ‘Bring Children to the Snow’ campaign, launched in 2007, which seeks to increase interest in snow sport participation for younger generations. The vision of FIS is for skiing and snowboarding to be the first choice winter sport and recreational activity. They see the young generations as the future guardians of the snow.

FIS President Gian Franco Kasper remarked, “Once again World Snow Day has exceeded 400 events. This is great achievement and testament to how important children and families are to snow sports.”

To promote the event, the World Snow Day trailer is available for our Members to use on their online platforms. The promotional clip is available in English, German, Estonian, Finnish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Russian and Swedish. In addition, EBU Members are being encouraged to add links to their online channels (internet, social media) to the World Snow Day’s digital online platform.

The EBU holds the worldwide TV rights for the FIS 2020, 2022 and 2024 Ski Flying World Championships.
