Eurovision Sport is pleased to announce the renewal of its long-running media rights deal with the International Canoe Federation, in an agreement that runs until 2024.

The distribution deal covers all territories worldwide, with the exception of Canada, China and New Zealand, extending the partnership between the two organizations to more than 20 years.

The new agreement, which begins this year, takes over from the previous four-year one which expired at the end of last year.

The agreement covers World Championships in various canoe disciplines, as follows:

2021    

15-21 Sep: ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (Copenhagen, Denmark)
21-26 Sep: ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships & ICF World Extreme Slalom Championships (Bratislava, Slovakia)

2022    

26-31 Jul: ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships (Augsburg, Germany)
26-31 Jul: ICF World Extreme Slalom Championships (Augsburg, Germany)
03-07 Aug: ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (Halifax, Canada)

2023    

19-24 Sep: ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships (Lee Valley, UK)
19-24 Sep: ICF World Extreme Slalom Championships (Lee Valley, UK)
TBC: ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (Duisburg, Germany)

2024    

TBC: ICF Canoe Sprint Non-Olympic Events World Championships (Minsk, Belarus)

Thirteen EBU Members have already committed to be part of the new contract.

They are: CT (Czech Republic); DR (Denmark); ARD and ZDF (Germany); MTVA (Hungary); RAI (Italy); LT (Lithuania); TVP (Poland); RTP (Portugal); RTR (Russia); RTVS (Slovakia); RTVSLO (Slovenia); and RTVE (Spain).

ICF World Championships include both women and men, as well as paracanoeing competitions. Athletes from more than 90 countries participate, making canoeing one of the world's most popular water sports.

Once again, the popular new Extreme Canoe Slalom discipline, in which kayakers race against each other, rather than against the clock, is included.
