Svetozár Stračina Grand Prix

First held in 2003, the Svetozár Stračina Grand Prix Competition is an international biennial competition open to folk music recordings entered and produced by EBU Members.

The aim of the Competition is to promote the creation of traditional and arranged folk music recordings and stimulate international exchanges of folk music. It is organized every two years by Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS).

The 9th edition of the Competition was held on 26-28 March 2019 at RTVS, Mýtna St. 1, Bratislava. The following prizes were awarded by the 7-member Grand Jury, chaired by Bernard Garaj (Slovakia):

Grand Prix: About a Fine Steed (RTR - Radio Russia)

Five Special Prizes
Yanske (Czech Radio): best technical quality
Rainy (Polish Radio) : interesting approach to arrangement
Swarm Flied (Czech Radio): best live recording
Good Evening to You (Radio and Television Slovakia): best traditional form of interpretation
Mari Todoro (Bulgarian National Radio): best vocal performance
