Measuring internet censorship involves various methods – including IP, DNS, and DPI filtering – with tools available to identify the type of censorship in place. DW has experienced blocking in several countries which has led to initiatives like the OONI database, a free and open resource that collects data from volunteers, and the News Media Scan, funded by the Open Technology Fund (OTF).
