Turkish EBU Member TRT is inviting entries for its fourth International Documentary Awards, which will take place on May 13, 2013, in Istanbul.

The competition, which is open to both amateur and professional documentary filmmakers, is split into ‘national’ and ‘international’ categories.

TRT say the Documentary Awards aim to:

• support amateur and professional documentary film makers
• contribute to the development and prevalence of the documentary film genre;  
• enable audiences to view different and high quality documentary films from various countries;
• create a worldwide platform for documentary film-makers to meet and exchange ideas.

TRT is offering cash prizes to the winners, as follows:

NATIONAL COMPETITION

Amateur Category:

Best Documentary Award: 15,000 TL (€6,500)

Special Prize : 10,000 TL (€4,300)

Special Prize : 5,000 TL (€2,150)

Professional Category:

Best Documentary Award: 30,000 TL (€13,000)

Special Prize: 20,000 TL (€8,650)

Special Prize: 10,000 TL (€4,300)

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION:

Best Documentary Award: €10,000

Special Prize : €7,500

Special Prize : €5,000

The application deadline is January 25, 2013, and entry is free.
