EBU Knowledge Exchange 2015 to explore the value of public service media
07 May 2015
The contribution that public service media (PSM) make to society is the theme of this year’s EBU Knowledge Exchange in Geneva (14-15 September).
Led by the EBU’s Media Intelligence Service (MIS), EBU Members, scholars and media professionals will discuss the impact PSM has on Europe’s media market, national economies, society and individuals.
The goal is to develop a framework to assess the contribution, identifying indicators, best practices and new ideas that PSM generate through a programme of participative activities alongside keynote speeches and presentations.
Participants will hear from a diverse range of speakers including influencers outside the media sector, who will share challenges and showcase best case examples of campaigns to highlight their organizational value to external audiences.
Conclusions from the event will supplement a major research project being undertaken by MIS to evaluate and communicate the positive impact of PSM on society.
This year’s event will include a second day of workshops exclusively for EBU Members.
Selected broadcasters will report on how they assess their contribution to society, leading to a group discussion with a particular focus on methodology. Registrations for the event will open on 1 June.
