René Zavoral has been announced as the new Director General for EBU Member Czech Radio. Zavoral was appointed by the Czech Radio Council on 21 January for a six year term which starts immediately.

With extensive experience in broadcasting, Mr Zavoral has held various positions within Czech Radio since 2001. He worked as the station’s Communications, Marketing & PR Director, then became Deputy Director General for Czech Radio’s strategic development and from 2013 served as Czech Radio’s Deputy Director General for Programmes & Broadcasting.

The new Director General said “Czech Radio has a reputation as a reliable institution with a long-standing tradition. It is a great honour for me to continue developing these values as the broadcaster’s Director General. I believe that Czech Radio’s job is to remain a reliable source of information and an open public service medium promoting education and culture. A medium that will stimulate listeners, broadening their horizons and acting as a responsible companion in various life situations.”
