Nominations open for 56th Rose d’Or Awards
02 May 2017The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is excited to announce that nominations have opened for the 2017 Rose d’Or Awards. Now in their 56th year, these prestigious international awards honour the best in television and online entertainment.
This year’s ceremony returns to the stunning Axica venue in Berlin and will be held on Tuesday 19 September.
From 2 May until 30 June programme makers from across the world are invited to submit entries in 10 different categories.
Following in the footsteps of Stephen Fry and John Cleese a Lifetime Achievement award will be given out in Berlin to celebrate one person’s immense contribution to the world of entertainment.
A brand new award will also be handed to the Entertainer of The Year, with a panel of international entertainment journalists voting on who should receive the inaugural accolade.
“We want to celebrate not just those who have done extraordinary work throughout their careers but also those who are at the top of their game in 2017,” said EBU Head of Television Jeroen Depraetere.
“The Rose d’Or Awards have celebrated the crème de la crème of entertainment for nearly 60 years and never stand still. This year we’ve made changes to reflect the broad variety of entertainment available now to audiences including Virtual Reality.”
The 10 categories celebrate the best drama, sitcoms, reality, variety and game shows.
Children and Youth programmes, Virtual Reality and TV Movies also get their own categories in 2017.
Those nominated in each category will also be invited to attend an afternoon of workshops, talks and screenings; giving them a chance to network with programme makers from around the world.
“The Rose d’Or Awards are unique in that they provide a meeting place for producers and creatives to exchange ideas and discuss their work,” said EBU Media Director Jean Philip De Tender.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the world’s best entertainers to Berlin and celebrating their important contribution to the television and online landscape.”
Broadcasters and production companies are welcome to submit as many programmes as they like for the Rose d’Or Awards. A discount is available for multiple entries.
