Georgică Severin appointed Director General of Radio Romania
29 September 2017Georgică Severin has been appointed by the Romanian Parliament as the new President Director General of EBU Member Radio Romania. Severin has been the Interim Director General since April 2017.
Previously, he served as a Senator in the Romanian Parliament from 2008 to 2016. During this time he was President of the Culture and Media Committee and a member of the Special Committee for the Evaluation of Democracy and Rule of Law. He has was also a member of the Culture, Arts and Mass Information Means, the Foreign Policy Committee and the Legal Matters, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations Committee.
From 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the Romanian Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie. He has also been President of the Romania – Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Prior to working in government, Severin owned and ran the QED Written Press and Media Group.
