In their 90th year of broadcasting, Radio Romania are currently hosting the only festival in the world dedicated to radio orchestras: RadiRo – The International Festival of Radio Orchestras.

The 4th edition of the festival, organized every two years, is taking place until 25 November and brings some of the most prestigious European ensembles in front of the Romanian audience.

This year's festival sees the debut of a new jazz section, which will complete the symphony programme.

The eight classical music concerts in the festival are being hosted at the Romanian Radio Hall, while the four jazz concerts are taking place at the Auditorium Hall – MNAR (National Museum of Art of Romania).

RadiRo 2018 is also giving the opportunity to music lovers to listen live in Bucharest to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, who will perform two concerts at the Romanian Radio Hall (on 22 and 23 November).

The MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra (Germany), the oldest European radio orchestra has performed at the festival which began on 18 November. The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano are also taking to the stage, together with the “host” orchestra of the event, the Romanian Radio National Orchestra.

All concerts performed during the Festival are being broadcast live by Radio Romania and being made available to all EBU Radio Member organisations.
