The Legal and Policy Assembly gathers Members that work in legal or policy areas. It governs the advocacy work that the EBU does towards, primarily, the EU Institutions. Topics include funding, online platforms, prominence, distribution, AI, data privacy as well as media freedom and pluralism. Our goal is to ensure the right legislative frameworks for public service media.
The Legal & Policy Assembly brings together senior legal and policy experts from across the EBU Membership. It is a forum for updating Members on latest developments impacting public service media in Europe and beyond, as well as an opportunity for sharing experiences and networking.
This spring session will include the election of two new members of the Legal and Policy Committee.
To coincide with the French Presidency of the EU, we are also looking forward to an exciting keynote speech by the Deputy General Rapporteur of the French Autorité de la Concurrence Pascale Déchamps.
We will also have the privilege of hearing Ms Cistrina Durnea, Legal Counsel at The Independent Journalism Center in Moldova who will come and present of one of the most important cases for PSM governance and independence (Manole and Others vs Moldova). There will also be an update on the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Distribution files, and the most recent news on the EU's most recent initiative, the Media Freedom Act.
