We talked podcasting at the EBU Podcast Forum 2025 on 17 and 18 September at MediaCity UK in Salford, Manchester, thanks to the kind invitation of BBC Sounds. This event was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas on audio formats and explore various aspects of podcasting and public service media.

A big thank you to our amazing host, BBC Sounds, for making it all possible!

The keyword this year was AUDIENCE: reaching an audience, growing an audience, keeping an audience.

Check out the agenda for more information.

Day 1 – Wednesday, 17 September – Afternoon only:

Keynote Address by Jonathan Wall, Director, BBC Sounds– Examples of smartly moving audiences to your own platform – Create your next successful podcast with Podcast Innovation Tool – Podcast against News Fatigue – Samoan Circle: Can podcasts survive without video?

Day 2 – Thursday, 18 September - Full day:

Formats carefully selected from the EBU Open Call for Podcasts – Growing Your Audience Is a Choice – Should you promote your podcast on WhatsApp? – Cross-border Collaborations – Future Audiences – Open Space Discussions – Bring your own topic, join conversations that matter to you!

At the EBU Podcast Forum, senior podcast professionals and producers come together to discuss strategies for successful podcasting, production techniques, and innovative formats. Participants have the chance to share insights on topics such as audio content benchmarking, KPIs for commissioning, efficient internal production workflows, team collaboration, and the creation of new formats. The agenda includes knowledge-sharing along with format presentations, and there is plenty of space for open discussions on topics suggested by participants.

This is an in-person event only, open exclusively to EBU Members. It is of interest to podcast producers, content creators, programme directors, heads of digital, heads of programming, heads of podcast teams, and others involved in public service broadcasting, podcast production, strategy development, or on-demand content.
